An escape room is a live adventure game. Participants are placed in a room full of original puzzles and clues. You use elements of the room in order to the mystery and the achieve the objective. Some rooms include primary and secondary objectives
When choosing an escape room, take into consideration the storyline of the room, the number of participants, and the location of the facility. It is very important to look up the online reviews; other participants experience will help you make a decision.
You can research MindEscape on Google, Facebook, Yelp or TripAdvisor. Our rooms can host anywhere between 2 and 12 players, although groups of 4 and up are recommended. The themes of the rooms are “Escape the Thai Prison” and “Escape Jack the Ripper”.
Escape games require teamwork, communication, delegation, critical thinking, attention to detail, spatial observation and much more. Our games are accessible to wide age ranges. The most successful teams are made up of players with homogenous experiences, skills, background knowledge, and abilities. The more diverse of a team, the better chances you have of success!
As a live-action game, participating in an escape room creates opportunities for players to bond and share an experience. The participants are disconnected from their phones and electronics. They have to engage one another creating collaboration and good old fashion team work. It is the perfect team building event and an absolutely fun outing.
Your energy and enthusiasm is all you need to escape the room games! In fact, all phones and bags remain in our lockers (you will take the key to the locker with you).
The minimum age for the “Escape Thai Prison” is 8 years old. If you have a youngster or two under the minimum age, they are welcome to tag along with a group of adults. Players 16 years and younger must have at least 2 adults in their group.
The minimum age for “Escape Jack the Ripper” is 16 years old.
Absolutely! The relationships within a family create an excellent group of players. Communication and team work are key in an escape game. Word of advice: listen to your kids! They have a unique perception and may notice something you have overlooked
It’s possible. Our rooms are spacious enough for up to 12 players (Escape Thai Prison) and up to eight in Escape Jack the Ripper. As such contain enough playing elements for everyone.
However, if you wish to have the time slot exclusively for your group please send us an email to [email protected] or call us @ (215) 454-6159.
MindEscape Philadelphia currently has two escape rooms in one location: Escape Thai Prison and Escape Jack the Ripper.
We find that the size of the group does not matter. It is all about communication and team work. If you feel that your group is too small (just you?) or too big (25 people birthday party or a corporate outing) feel free to contact us at [email protected] or (215) 454-6159 and we will guide you and make your event special and successful.
Check out our corporate page for additional information.
Yes, we can. Please contact us when booking your experience. We can accommodate large parties and special occasions. We can tailor the perfect outing whether it is a birthday party, bachelorette or graduation. Employee appreciation or a team building event. We’ve had several wedding proposals where the proposal was integrated as part of the room mechanics. Upon request, we can customize the experience for your special occasion.
Our escape games will have you moving around as you are looking for clues, so you should wear comfortable clothes and shoes. You will not be comfortable with an oversized coat and high-heels 🙂
Be ready to have your heart pumping with excitement!
All doors are electronically controlled and you can get out at any time. If you need to exit the room because you feel uncomfortable or for any other reason, you can just depress the emergency exit button located by every door in our rooms – and unlock it.
Note that using the emergency button does not constitute “winning”. 🙂
Please give yourself some extra time, and arrive 15 minutes prior to your start time. Games will begin exactly at their appointed time.
We are unable to wait if you are late, and as a result, you may have less than 60 minutes to play. Street parking in the South Street district can be a challenge at peak hours. Please check out our parking recommendations
There are several garages around. You can find them here. Street parking is metered and can be easily found, most of the time.
There’s some free 2-hr parking available on Gaskill and Lombard streets.
Note on Weekends, particularly Friday evenings and on a Saturdays, there may be some traffic and trouble finding street parking. Please plan accordingly.
Also, note that Philadelphia Parking Authority around here is pretty strict, so please pay attention (and the meter!).
We have recognized the need for the community to have a location where people with disabilities can have fun just like everyone else!
The location, the facilities, and the Escape Thai Prison game are wheelchair and ADA accessible.
Please email us or give us a call ahead of booking, if you have special needs or require assistance.
Our Escape Thai Prison room is very family friendly. You can come in and play the game with your children. Groups with a pet dog, pregnant women or a team with an infant, we had them all!
Escape Jack the Ripper room, has a darker theme and require more concentration and attention to detail. As such it is less suitable for Teens under the age of 15.
